Just thought I would post a quick one about The Lovely Bones. I cannot sleep, and the computer screen makes me all sleepy.
Also I have spent a lot of time trying to sleep staring at the ceiling (although I cannot see it as it is dark) and wishing I had Final Fantasy Thirteen. I can't afford it right this minute and it is driving me crazy! I just want to play!
Anyway, I went to go see The Lovely Bones. I had read the book, which I loved, and being that I love Peter Jackson, I thought that this would be an awesome opportunity to throughly enjoy myself.
Result: Confusion! I love the book... what the hell happened, it isn't even that the way he changed the plot is bad, because I quite like the sort of layout of the screenplay. But seriously... wtf? I felt so spacey watching it, and like it took ten hours to get to any particular action. I was severely disappointed with the leading actress' role. I feel maybe the film was too hyped up, given too much attention before it came out. A bit like Avatar (which I love by the way), but it totally was ruined by media attention.
Of course media ruins many things, but hey, it helps with others so we cannot win!
So yes, worth seeing, maybe if you are totally high (I imagine this film would hold a tripping person's attention for a good while!) and also if you are curious, maybe it would be better for someone who hadn't read the book, or hadn't been around the hype?
ALTHOUGH! The guy who played the murderer (Stanley Tucci as Mr Harvey) was so creepy and amazing! I loved him. Reminded me a bit of Robin Williams in that film... um.... One hour Photo? Or something like that! But yes, jumpy and gave me the heeby jeebies!
