The One

So many people make reference to "the one" and recently i have been wondering what exactly that consists of. There are friends we have to fill different roles, we have the funny one, the one that listens, he one who helps, the cynical one, the positive one... etc etc.

Is "The One" all of these things in one person? Because I am not entirely convinced that would work. I mean when it comes to lovers, there has been, the sexy one or the secure one, the funny one, the comfortable one. Is it possible that a partner can obtain all of these qualities? And not leave one of them slightly neglected?

Is it that we have many friends who fill the other roles to replace the ones our partner can't? Or if we don't have a partner we get our friends to fill in the gaps? I feel the "one" we actually look for, are our many friends, all individually they all deserve that title, "the one". If we obtain a partner who does all these things for us to, then that is a bonus.
