Night In...

It is Fireworks Night officially and I am in my house. Alone. I am good with this, gonna catch up on my Christmas present making (yet another year where home-made gifts are venturing out). My Fireworks celebrations are tomorrow, with a few friends, nice and lovely and sweet.

Plus I can see lots of fireworks from my window and they look lovely. So excited about Blackheath Fireworks tomorrow, makes me silly excited! I love the smell of them, and how everyone gets wrapped up warm and trying to hold sparklers with gloves... it is just wonderful. I love Summer so much.. but Winter has its awesome moments and this is one of them. Also unlike New Years it isn't bigged up too much and so it usually is a pleasant evening.

When I was little my family would always get invited to big ol' Bonfire Parties for Bonfire Night and it was mainly because he would do the BBQ while we all shivered watching Guy Fawkes burn on the Bonfire and Catherine Wheels fall off trees etc etc.

I did just hear a whole family go "ooooo. Ahhhh" this made me giddy.

Anyway.... Happy Bonfire Night people. (Be Safe)

Love n Hugs xx

  1. Dear Emsie,

Halloween and Guy Fawkes was always a great

time for me during my teens, but now it

doesn't hold the same sense of anticipation

    or excitement.

I don't want to sound jaded, because I'm

not, I just think that trying to repeat

a certain feeling one had at a certain

point in life is sad somehow.

That the memories are too precious and

trying to capture that same feeling

    is impossible.

I prefer winter to summer. That probably

sounds a little weird but heat + humidity

paralyses me. Perhaps, I have mutant

squirrel genes? I love snuggling under my

duvet and forcing myself to rise at 7 am

to run along the river in a frosty, foggy

morning, it makes me feel alive.

I hope you had a wonderful time.

    Bless*

    Mark

  2. Thank you Mark.
It genuinely is impossible to recapture the exact same feeling, but nostalgia can sometimes be awesome, and new memories can always be created. I had the most amazing fireworks night I have ever had in a long long time.
Squirrel genes eh? Like the sound of that! amazing ability to climb trees really fast.
And I totally admire your ability to make yourself go running in the cold and in the morning. Two things i dislike!
